Dishwashers: built-in, freestanding or slimline?
Place settings, noise, auto-open doors and niche sizes: everything you need to choose a dishwasher.
Three formats
- Fully integrated (built-in): the kitchen panel covers the whole front. Standard niche 60 cm wide, 82–87 cm high.
- Freestanding: has its own top and goes anywhere, even in a finished kitchen.
- Slimline 45 cm: for small kitchens or singles; 9–10 place settings.
How many place settings?
One place setting is a full service for one person. 12–13 suit 3–4 people; 14 and up if you often cook for guests or use big pans. A third cutlery basket frees space below.
How quiet?
Below 44 dB a dishwasher is barely noticeable in an open kitchen; below 42 dB you can run it at night on time-of-use tariffs.
Useful features
- Auto-open door at the end of the cycle: steam escapes and dishes dry better with less energy.
- Eco programme: longer, and the one the energy class is measured on.
- Load sensor: adjusts water and time to how dirty the load is.
